1 to 2 years experience on board and, sometimes, Tender Captain´s Licence. |
Functions: |
Supervises general maintenance within the different working stations on board; assistant in tender operations, and loading and unloading tasks; controls unlicensed deck personnel in cleaning, polishing metalwork, chipping, painting, scraping and wirebrushing deck areas; inspects and tests equipment to ensure safe and proper operations; inspection of deck areas and crew quarters for cleaning and order; supervision of secure cargo, systems for leaving port, and direction of handling operations of mooring lines when the vessel is docked and undocked; and, sometimes, stands at lookout, searching for possible obstacles in the path of the ship, following the required safety procedures. |
Income: |
2,000 - 2,500 dollars per month. |
A/B SEAMAN |

It is a position that requires some previous experience as a seaman or specific training in an accredited maritime academy. |
Functions: |
They stand watch looking for another ships, measure water deep in shallow waters, operate different deck equipment (loading and unloading gear, anchorage systems, pulleys, ropes and wires, pumps, hoses, lifeboats, etc.), and carry out general maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, polishing metalwork, chipping metal rust, painting, scrapping and wirebrushing the deck areas. |
Income: |
1,200 - 1,500 dollars per month. |
