Directly responding to the Restaurant Manager / Maitre D' in the general and specific organization and supervision of all food and beverage outlets onboard the cruise ship to ensure the excellence in service for an international clientele by implementing all policies and procedures set by the company, replacing him/her when necessary.

In charge of the smooth running operation of his section, supervises, trains and monitors the duties and activity of restaurant waiters, deck stewards, crew mess attendants and general assistants at his/her section, working in a positively and polite way to ensure the highest quality of service offered to passengers, and reporting directly to the Restaurant Manager or Maitre D’.

High school diploma or similar level of education, 2 to 3 years of previous work experience as a sommelier in high quality hospitality establishment, comprehensive knowledge of wines and beverages, proficient communication and interpersonal skills, managerial competencies and proven ability to work in multicultural work environment.

Responsible for providing wine and beverage service to passengers in all food and beverage areas (restaurants, bars, bistros and cafes) onboard the cruise ship – especially in everything related to wine selection, spirits and cigars – supervising the performance of sommeliers and their assistants, and carrying out beverage cost and inventory control under the management of the assistant bar manger and beverage director.

Preferably secondary education, 2 to 3 years of previous experience in hospitality establishments (preferred on cruise ships), fast calculation skills, good interpersonal and communication abilities, and a high capability to work in fast-paced, multicultural work environments.

Responsible for general serving food and beverage in restaurants and dining rooms aboard the cruise ship in a timely, efficient and personalized way so as to ensure quality service and thus overall guest satisfaction.

Previous experience in similar land-based or seagoing position, communication and interpersonal skills, team work abilities, capability to identify and solve problems in an appropriate way, and flexibility to work overtime or assist other members of the staff in the area.

Assistant waiter is responsible for providing general assistance to waiters in the service of foods and beverages to passengers in restaurants and dining rooms aboard the cruise ship.
