Captain

Requirements

Maritime qualifications as a captain and captain´s licences from a recognized maritime academy, at least 5 to 8 years experience in subordinate positions on board, wide experience in all navigational computerized and electronic systems required.

Duties

Captain directs all the navigational operations on board and supervises the work of the other officers and crewmembers, being responsible for the discipline on this section. He sets speed and course, determines position by navigational systems and charts, manoeuvres the vessel to avoid dangerous situations, operates the engines, communicates with other vessels, supervises that machinery and equipment are in working order and keeps logs and records of the different operations and events on board.

Salary

5,900 - 10,000 dollars/euros a month (approx.).

Barge Supervisor

Requirements

Degree in marine or mechanical engineering or related discipline and marine qualification, minimum 5 years experience in similar position along with previous experience as master marine in the merchant navy.

Duties

Supervises and coordinates operations in the control room aboard semisubmersible rigs, being responsible for the ballast and stability of the rig, loading and unloading operations to assure that loads are located according to balancing specifications, general repairs and maintenance tasks, and supervision of safety and emergency evacuation procedures and drills.

Salary

Negotiable depending on the contract.

Barge Engineer

Requirements

Degree in marine or mechanical engineering or related discipline and marine qualification, minimum 5 years experience in similar position along with previous experience as master marine in the merchant navy.

Duties

Barge engineer is in charge of the operations in the control room, being responsible for the handling operations, ballast and stability tasks, loading and unloading operations to assure that loads are located according to balancing specifications, and designs and performs safety and emergency evacuation procedures and drills.

Salary

Around 50,000 - 60,000 dollars/euros a year.

Ballast Controlman

Requirements

Degree in marine or mechanical engineering or related discipline, previous experience in similar or subordinate position.

Duties

Responsible for certain operations concerning the stabilization of the rig. Specifically, ballast controlman is in charge of the valves that allow seawater in and out of special tanks designed to ballast and stabilize the rig.

Salary

Around 55,000 dollars/euros a year.

Candidates

A/B Seaman

Requirements

It is a position that requires some previous experience as a seaman or specific training in an accredited maritime academy.

Duties

They stand watch, looking for another ships, measure water depth in shallow waters, operate different deck equipment (load and unload gear, anchors, ropes and wires, pumps, hoses, lifeboats, etc), and carry out general maintenance and cleaning tasks, such as cleaning, polishing metalwork, chipping rust, painting, scraping and wirebrusing deck areas.

Salary

1,700 - 2,500 dollars/euros a month (approx.).

Seaman

Requirements

Entry-level position that requires no previous experience.

Duties

General maintenance and cleaning chores along as with assistance in other tasks that require no special training.

Salary

Around 25,000 - 30,000 dollars/euros a year.
